Art Collection and Commissioning

Curation, commissioning, framing, installation engineering and provenance documentation for gaming and resort interiors.

Art Collection and Commissioning

Art is the part of the interior that cannot be specified from a catalogue.

A collection gives a venue a point of view. It is also the element most often left until the end of a programme and then filled with generic prints, which is why we bring art into the concept stage alongside materials and lighting.

We work in two modes. Curation places existing works — from galleries, artist studios and the secondary market — into a scheme with a coherent argument behind it. Commissioning develops new work with an artist for a specific wall, volume or ceiling.

Either route includes the unglamorous parts: contracting, insurance valuation, condition reporting, installation engineering for heavy or suspended pieces, dedicated lighting, and a provenance file the operator actually owns.

In practice

A collection the operator can actually manage.

Handover includes valuations, condition reports, cleaning limits and a rotation plan. Five years later the venue still knows what it owns, what it is worth and who to call when a work needs attention.
